Official Art: The Wheel of Time Season 2 Posters

The official art arrived on 12 July 2023, with character posters following a month later, creating social media buzz despite the marketing challenges posed by the SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes. The main poster adorned billboards and banners worldwide, building anticipation for the season. It perfectly captures the serious tone, darker plot, and tense character dynamics that define Season 2.

Moiraine stands at the center with her arm extended as if channeling, surrounded by key characters from the series: Lan, Rand, Perrin, Mat, Egwene, and Nynaeve. Colorful weaves of the One Power swirl around them.
The main cast of The Wheel of Time returns for Season 2 on Prime Video.

Notice the blue weaves surrounding Nynaeve and Egwene and the orange strands encircling Rand. The show evolves from the plain white threads of Season 1 by injecting colorful sorcery into the dramatic veins of Season 2. One Power magic uses the elements of Air, Earth, Fire, Water, and Spirit, making it logical for the show to distinguish between them visually.

Rosamund Pike’s Moiraine Damodred commands the poster, a clear statement of her continued importance to the series. She wields a knife instead of channeling, a reminder, if we need one, of her lost power. Lan, reaching for his broadsword, appears more in character while a battle rages in the background, with Shienaran soldiers and Seanchan forces visible.

The Wheel of Time Season 2 Character Posters

Each poster features a unique duo to spark fan speculation, along with a large, colorful orb. Many fans interpret the orbs as representing Cairhien, the dominant location for much of Season 2, as its flag features a rising sun. However, the circular shape also symbolizes the endless cycle of the Wheel of Time itself, drawing on the eternal themes of destiny, reincarnation, and the perpetual struggle between Light and Dark.

Moiraine and Liandrin’s blue and red backgrounds indicate their respective Ajahs. The pastels might also signify the various elements of the One Power. As with the main poster, there’s much to discover in these images. At the base of each poster lies a battle scene beneath a line of mountains, foreshadowing the conflicts of the season.

Lan and Moiraine

Moiraine stands facing forward in a dark blue gown with a wide golden belt, looking calm and composed. Behind her, Lan stands turned to the side, his head bowed, wearing layered grey and black robes. They are set against a gold and blue circular backdrop.
Lan Mandragoran (Daniel Henney) and Moiraine Damodred (Rosamund Pike)

This season, Moiraine (Rosamund Pike) and Lan (Daniel Henney)’s unbreakable bond faces unprecedented tests. Moiraine is vulnerable and stripped of her magical abilities, yet she remains focused on her mission to protect the Dragon Reborn. Without the Warder bond, Lan demonstrates true resilience as both characters share an arc of adaptation and rediscovery.

Elayne and Egwene

Elayne and Egwene stand in white Novice robes. Elayne has long red-blonde hair and a calm expression, while Egwene has long dark hair and a serious gaze. Behind them is a golden circle over a teal background, with swirling One Power effects.
Elayne Trakand (Ceara Coveney) and Egwene al’Vere (Madeleine Madden)

Egwene (Madeleine Madden) embraces the role of an Aes Sedai initiate, forming a solid friendship with fellow trainee Elayne (Ceara Coveney). As Daughter-Heir of Andor, Elayne’s introduction to the White Tower represents an expansion of the world, and her characteristic charm and determination make her an essential addition to the cast.

Min Farshaw and Mat Cauthon

Min stands confidently in a modern-cut outfit with black leather sleeves and a patterned bodice, while Mat Cauthon stands beside her in a worn green cloak and earth-toned shirt, looking pensive. They are set against a glowing gold and green circular background.
Min Farshaw (Kae Alexander) and Mat Cauthon (DĂłnal Finn)

The pairing of Min (Kae Alexander) and Mat (Dónal Finn) in Tar Valon works brilliantly in the context of Season 2. Min is a refugee from Fal Dara seeking safety in the city, and Mat is separated from his friends, so their paths naturally converge. Their dynamic brings welcome moments of levity amidst the season’s darker themes.

Liandrin and Nynaeve

Liandrin, wearing a red Aes Sedai gown, raises her hand as if channeling the One Power while Nynaeve stands beside her in a white Novice robe, looking strong and composed. A bold red and gold circular backdrop glows behind them.
Liandrin Guirale (Kate Fleetwood) and Nynaeve al’Meara (Zoë Robins)

Pairing Nynaeve (Zoë Robins), the headstrong Wisdom from the Two Rivers, with Liandrin (Kate Fleetwood), a ruthless member of the Red Ajah, creates perfect dramatic tension. Their scenes pit Nynaeve’s unyielding spirit against Liandrin’s cunning manipulation in a fascinating battle of wills.

Aviendha and Perrin

Aviendha, dressed in Aiel garb with a shawl and spears on her back, stands beside Perrin, who wears a textured green vest over a red shirt. Both characters appear serious against a golden and maroon background, with the show’s title displayed beneath them.
Aviendha (Ayoola Smart) and Perrin Aybara (Marcus Rutherford)

The poster’s presentation of the Aiel maintains appropriate mystery, with Aviendha (Ayoola Smart), a proud and fierce Maiden of the Spear, making an instant impression. The Aiel represent one of the most significant expansions to the series’ world. As a team, Aviendha and Perrin (Marcus Rutherford) create an intriguing dynamic that challenges the blacksmith’s perspective.

Ishamael and High Lady Suroth

Ishamael, with a short beard and dark, styled hair, stands beside High Lady Suroth in a black and tan outfit. She wears an ornate red and teal robe with wide sleeves and a large, golden, insect-like headpiece that conceals much of her face. They stand against a gold and navy circular backdrop.
Ishamael (Fares Fares) and Lady Suroth (Karima McAdams)

Ishamael (Fares Fares), the embodiment of the Dark One’s evil, continues as the show’s primary antagonist. The poster pairs him with Lady Suroth (Karima McAdams), a formidable Seanchan noblewoman, suggesting an alliance between powerful forces that heightens the stakes for our heroes.

Rand and Selene

Rand stands with a serious expression, wearing a dark-patterned cloak and carrying a sword on his back. Beside him, Selene poses with a confident and mysterious look, her long dark hair cascading over a deep blue dress. A gold and navy circular backdrop frames them.
Rand al’Thor (Josha Stradowski) and Selene (Natasha O’Keeffe)

Rand (Josha Stradowski), the Dragon Reborn, struggles independently to protect his loved ones from the dangers that surround him. His connection with Selene (Natasha O’Keeffe), presented as an innkeeper in Cairhien, forms one of the most compelling relationships in Season 2, with layers of mystery that reward careful viewing.
