About The Shining Walls

Welcome to The Shining Walls—a fan site devoted to Robert Jordan’s The Wheel of Time book series and its TV adaptation on Prime Video. Let us introduce ourselves and share the content we’ve created for fellow fans and newcomers alike.

This is a banner for The Shining Walls “About” page, featuring the logo: a golden tower wrapped by a serpent, with the words “About The Shining Walls” in bold, glowing text.

The Passion Reborn

The Wheel of Time has never left our hearts, but our passion for it surged anew when we heard, back in 2019, that a television series was in development. Since then, we’ve been entertained and nourished by the creative content found across the online community. It hadn’t dawned on us that The Wheel of Time’s fanbase was still as large, active, and talented! We’ve been avid subscribers to many YouTube channels covering the series and are genuinely grateful to all online creators for their dedicated work.

In building this site, we hope to give something back to the community that has sustained our love for the series through the years. After so long in the Aiel Waste, your presence has quenched our thirst for The Wheel of Time, and we have toh.

Our Journey With The Books

Our team has been reading The Wheel of Time since the early 1990s, witnessing firsthand the anticipation between book releases and experiencing the whole saga multiple times. We remember the waiting, theories, and community formed around Robert Jordan’s masterpiece.

We’ve navigated the “slog” (as some fans call the middle books), rejoiced at revelations, mourned the loss of Robert Jordan, and celebrated Brandon Sanderson’s completion of the series. Through it all, the turning of the Wheel has remained a constant source of joy and inspiration.

What You’ll Find at The Shining Walls

There’s plenty here for newcomers to The Wheel of Time, and everything we write has you at its heart. You’ll find spoiler warnings where appropriate so that you’ll be able to tread lightly through The Shining Walls. You can always return to the content that should be experienced after you’ve read the books or watched the series to a certain point.

If you’re entirely new to the series, we recommend starting with our introduction to Season 1 of The Wheel of Time TV series. Seasons 2 and 3 are also available, but Season 4 has not been greenlit. That’s why you’ll see the “Save WoT” banners across this site. Let’s rally to keep a vital show for the fantasy genre running. Your support is crucial!

Veteran readers, we value your insights too! Feel free to share your knowledge in Ogier fashion or go all Slayer on us if we mess up badly. This is a celebration site where we reflect on the moments, characters, nations, races, and lore that brought us all together.

Who We Are

The Shining Walls is managed by RCG Websites LTD., but at our core, we’re dedicated fans of The Wheel of Time who’ve been turning pages since 1994. Our primary writer and content creator, Russell Charles, has a background in theater and performance, bringing a unique perspective to character analysis and storytelling elements within the series.

When not discussing the intricacies of the Pattern or debating channeling mechanics, he can be found cheering on Ipswich Town (through thick and thin), exploring other fantasy series, and occasionally being supervised by cats who have an uncanny knack for keyboard shortcuts.

Supporting The Shining Walls

To ensure The Shining Walls’ longevity and to cover its costs, we occasionally promote products we think you’ll love. We may earn a small commission from some of these sales at no added cost to you. Please read our affiliate disclosure for more information. This helps toward the site’s running costs, as do the advertisements you’ll see from time to time. Our heart remains with the books, the show, and the community above all.
